Buried Tony Romo Story Inexcusable

No indication that the Romo story is their #1 draw

The Dallas Morning News, newspaper website Dallasnews.com is running a great feel-good story.  But you wouldn’t know it by visiting their website!  The Wednesday story, “Dallas Cowboys blog: Further evidence that Tony Romo really is a swell fella” is buried in their sports section. This despite the fact that today the story is their Most Read, Most E-mailed, Most Recommended, and second most commented (124).

At the time of this writing the biggest headline on their site is, “City Hall blog: Omni gets nod to run Dallas Convention Center hotel” with zero comments.  ZERO.

——————————————————————-

This is a clear case of a news organization NOT serving their customers.  People are still Digging it.  People are still Recommending it.  It is #30 on trendalicious!  This is not a football story.  This is not a sports story.  This is a story about one human being gracious toward another human.  This a great story to run, any time, but more so now when the US economy is in the dumper, people are getting laid off, and a general malaise is clouding the approach of Thanksgiving and other holidays.

I ask the editor & publisher, how better to serve to your customer today, than promoting this story to your front page?  As Henry David Thoreau wrote, “A truly good book teaches me better than to read it.  I must soon lay it down, and commence living on its hint.  What I began by reading, I must finish by acting”.  The same applies to articles which add to your customer’s self actualization.
